Photographs of Old Things

19th Century Chinese Kingfisher Feather Hair Ornaments (sold)
Kingfisher feather jewelry has been prized in China for nearly a thousand years. In the 17th to 19th century it used particularly in Chinese weddings for hair ornaments and headdresses.  These little half moon, wing-shaped hair ornaments are especially lovely.  It’s the first matched pair I’ve ever seen. They’re fairly delicate, but I think they’d be very special if used in a wedding again.
