Georgian Paste Earrings with Pink Foil, Silver Backs, 14K Wires (sold)
I bought a little collection of 18th century paste in England in August. All of the pieces were damaged in some way, but I salvaged the paste and made a handful of earrings. The first batch had plain silver foil backs. But for the last two pairs, our jeweler re-foiled them with colored foil centers— as was common in the 18th century. The effect is wonderful and subtle. The colored foil makes the stone very dynamic— appearing colorless from some directions, but flashing with color from others. This pair has pink foil, and the second has pale blue.
