1820s Georgian English Rose Cut Diamond Cluster Ring, Silver, 18K, $1850
1890s Victorian Pearl Axe Brooch, 14K, $295
Don’t know the symbolism here exactly. We’ve had plenty of axe pins over the years, but never one quite so fine as this, and never with a pearl being chopped.
In the shop this evening. That Erie Basin banner on the table was a present from a friend, who found it in Baltimore. It’s on canvas and was part of one of those rolling bus stop signs. Back when Red Hook was called Erie Basin.
1910s Edwardian Three Diamond Filigree Ring,
~0.50ctw European Cut Diamonds, Platinum, $2595

1930-40s Art Deco 1.15ctw Step and Half Moon Cut Diamond Ring
(F-G / VS2-SI1) Platinum, $5150
One of the cooler Deco rings I’ve seen in a while. I’ve been especially attracted to unusual early 20th century diamond cuts lately. Here a pair of half moon cut diamonds surround a step cut center, forming an oval shaped plaque of diamonds. I like the idea of diamond cut directing the shape of the ring.
